Tailoring with VLISCO RadianceUpdated 15 hours ago

To ensure the best tailoring results with VLISCO Radiance, we recommend using the following materials and techniques:

Thread
  • Preferred: Amann Saba 120 / Tex 24
  • Alternative: Thin sewing thread – 1000 metres = 24 grams
Sewing Machine Needles
  • Preferred: Needle size NM70 / Size 10
  • If unavailable, opt for the finest needle available to preserve the integrity of the weave.
Interlining

To support and maintain the luxurious properties of VLISCO Radiance:

  • Preferred: Vlieseline G785, available in white, beige, and black
  • Alternative: A heavier interlining can be cut on the bias for a softer drape
Fusible Tapes

For reinforcement and shape retention, we suggest:

  • Vlieseline Biais Tape T12: Chain stitch bias tape, ideal for curved and bias-cut lines
  • Vlieseline Seamtape Flexible T15: Prevents fraying and distortion of curved edges
  • Vlieseline Edgetape T20: Stabilizes straight edges and seams
Lining
  • Use a light cotton voile or mousseline
Cutting & Preparation
  1. Cut with care to ensure precision and accuracy
  1. Identify the horizontal thread or grain by gently tearing the fabric
  1. Always finish fabric edges after cutting (e.g., with overlock stitching or fusible tape) to avoid fraying
Ironing
  1. Use a protective layer between the iron and the fabric to prevent heat damage
  1. When ironing, respect the grain of the fabric to avoid distortion
Fabric Handling
  1. For the fitting toile, choose a fabric with a similar drape to VLISCO Radiance rather than standard cotton greycloth
  1. French seams or bias binding are recommended for a clean, elegant finish
  1. When using bias tape, opt for lining, organza or mousseline to preserve the fabric’s soft drape
